Hi Matt,

How did the scan go yesterday? You've got a pretty thick head and lots of padding on the inside so a little crack on a table shouldn't have damaged anything important.

I tried calling you yesterday, but - well I guess you already figured it out - we managed to take care of Karpriyanov. I brought him on board to do some translation work for us. I know what you're going to say, but can it. It was the best excuse we could come up with to keep him busy short of wrapping him in duct tape and shoving him in a locker. Besides, Daniil's a smart kid. Top marks, fluent in Russian and English and passable German and French. The paperwork has been filed and if he passes the security verification and background check then I'd like to get him up to speed on some of the tech. We'll put him through his paces with documentation and if the work is good then it might be worthwhile bringing him onboard. It would make Nat very happy if I didn't have to drag her along with me and away from her work every time I needed to talk to Timo. I mean, he's been working here for 8 months already, would it kill him to pick up even a little bit of English?

Anyway, you and I need to sit down and have a serious talk about what we are going to do here. I don't even know where to start with this stuff... it's quite literally insane. I know the whole project could cause problems, but this is... Do you happen to have any friends at the RCMP, by chance? One who would be willing to take a crackpot seriously? Because I don't.

You know the rules about public email. Call me. I don't care how sick you have to be to miss coming in to the lab, I will have had retrospectively warned myself against it if I have to (can haventa forewhen presooning returningwarna retroself). But you aren't going to leave me hanging out here with a live grenade. I've already left a message with my cousin at the bio lab in Winnipeg, and we need to figure out what we can pass on to her.

So get in here and we will deal with it.

Your PIC,

911 Dispatch: Waterloo Region 911, where is your emergency?

Caller: A neighbour's hour, 87 Russel St.

911: What's the emergency?

Caller: I think I heard someone fire a gun. Two guys pulled up in a car, they banged on the door. When they went in there was shouting, yelling, then I heard a popping sound, like a firecracker.

911: Did you see a gun?

Caller: No, I didn't see one.

911: Are you sure it was gunfire?

Caller: I... I think so. I'm pretty sure. The people who live there are pretty strange, I rarely see anyone there. The windows are always covered up and I almost never see anyone go in or out. They have a service that comes and takes care of the yard but no one's ever outside and the lights are always off.

911: Okay, can you tell me how many shots you heard?

Caller: Four or five, maybe six. They happened fast.

911: How long ago did you hear them?

Caller: Only a few minutes, maybe five minutes?

911: Okay, stay calm, police will be there soon. Have you seen anyone leave?

Caller: No.

911: Alright, now I want you to stay inside. Lock your doors, close your curtains, and turn out the lights. Stay inside and stay quiet. My officers are almost there.

Caller: Thank you.

911: You're welcome.

Kitchener police bust marijuana growop valued at nearly $1 million

Growop ranks largest this year

Waterloo Region Record by Lisa Amallory

Oct 2, 2015

KITCHENER - Four people face charges after Kitchener's largest marijuana grow-operation bust this year, policy say.

Responding to a 911 call at a home on Russel St after a neighbour reported hearing shots, officers seized 954 pot plants worth an estimated street value of nearly $1 million. The officers also seized $60,000 in cash, one gun and other weapons policy said Friday.

Two people who live at the home face several drug charges, including drug production, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and weapons offenses. Two others are minors who cannot be identified and do not live at the home face charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

"This was definitely a significant seizure and will have an impact on the drug community" said the deputy chief of the Waterloo Regional Police "Any time we can make a seizure such as this, especially where weapons are involved, and remove this threat from the community is a positive for the city."

The seizure was the largest grow-op bust in southern Ontario since 1,300 plants were seized in July in Erin, Ontario.

Justin Hlinke, 25, and Anthony Lee, 29, face several charges. Lee who is known to police has connections to the Bandidos biker gang. Concerned about links between organized crime and marijuana grow-ops, police have taken a hard line against them.

Whereas Jacob Cendric, of Waterloo Ontario hereinafter called the defendant, has been charged that the defendant, on or about the 2nd day of October, 2015, did commit the offence of possession for the purposes of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 5.(2).

It is ordered that the defendant be released upon the defendant giving or entering into:

(check appropriate box)

□          an undertaking to appear.

□          a recognizance without sureties in the amount of $____ with/without conditions but without deposit of money or other valuable security.

□          a recognizance with one or more sufficient sureties in the amount of $____ with/without conditions but without deposit of money or other valuable security.

□          a recognizance with the consent of the prosecutor, in the amount of $____ with/without conditions and upon the defendant depositing with the justice the sum of $____ in money or other valuable security.

□          since the defendant is not ordinarily resident in the Province of Ontario, a recognizance with/without one or more sufficient sureties in the amount of $____ with/without conditions, and upon the defendant depositing with the justice before whom the defendant enters into the recognizance the sum of $____ in money or other valuable security.

The said conditions being that the defendant shall:

remain within the Province of Ontario and refrain from possession of any firearm, crossbow, restricted weapon, or prohibited weapon.

Ordered at this 2nd day of October, 2015

George C. MacLean

Provincial Judge or Justice of the Peace
